
The Ename Center for Public Archaeology and Heritage Presentation received a medallion for its outstanding role in the international image building of the Province of East Flanders. The nomination of the Ename Center for its meritorious achievements was made public on the annual new years reception of the province on the 11th of January 2010.
Direct occasion for honouring the Ename Center is its award winning documentary on battlefield archaeology at the International Archaeological Film Festival Kineon in Brussels, November 2009. Mr. Alexander Vercamer, first deputy, stressed that out of more than 70 submissions the documentary Project Casus Belli: Oudenaarde 1708 was selected for the Prix de la vulgarisation scientifique. The deputy for culture, Mr. Jozef Dauwe, officially handed the golden plaque.
Other nominations went to Dirk Brossé, for his appointment as musical director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, to Mario Luypaerts, best bus chauffeur of Belgium, to Sylva, an horticultural firm from Waarschoot and winner of in international competition in Spain, as well as to the village Elst, winner of the Flemish award “Village with future 2009”.
